■Y/N's POV■

Days eventually turned into weeks, and by now a month passed since I broke up with Takao san. The day after that incident, I busy myself by helping out at my Auntie and Cousin's event. I was sad, but interacting with everyone at that event kinda made me forget about Takao san. But that event doesn't last long, after all, it ended within two days.

~Fash back~
The following days it's what I fear the most because there's a chance I'll see Takao san at School. Though we're not in the same class, his class is right next to mine, as I have to walk past his class when I head to mine. As I stepped into the locker room, my mind drifted to the day we broke up. Thankfully I don't see him in this particular place, but I just can't seem to calm down yet.

The moment I stepped onto our floor, there he is, standing in front of his class. Right next to him are his classmates and The one that he loves. Takao san looks my way and our eyes meet. I can see his eyes widen a little but I look away. My feet became heavy, but someone grabs my hand and I look at my best friend Nonoka.

Nonoka: think of that piece of shit as a ghost... there's nothing there... let's go...

Nonoka pulls me to walk with her, as we're getting closer I shut my eyes and let Nonoka leads me to our class. The following days and the day after that, Nonoka always help me to avoid him, and I eventually became a little bit calmer. I tried to get the thought of him away, and Nonoka help me out with that.

And just like that, a month passed without me being in contact with Takao san. I tried to keep myself busy by helping out when my auntie has another event. Right now I'm at the mall, tomorrow is Nonoka's birthday and I want to get something for her.

Y/N: what should I get her? Oh and while I'm here I should get the book for my extra class...

I look around the store, deciding whether I should buy her clothes or other things. As I'm walking around, I hear a crying voice not too far from me. I look at one of the stores, and there's a little boy, probably not older than four years old. He looks around, looking all scared, his eyes are filled with tears.

Boy: ung... Nii...?

Is he lost?

I walk closer and approach the poor boy. When he senses my presence, he takes a step back and looks alarmed.

Y/N: um hello,

Boy: hikks-

Oh no...

He looks even more terrified by now. If I approach him, he'll probably be more alarmed. So I just crouch down in front of him and talk to him in a gentle voice.

Y/N: I'm sorry for scaring you... I just want to know why this handsome boy cries...

The boy stares at me but I think he's a bit more relaxed.

Boy: nii... san... gone...

Nii san? Did he got separated from his brother...

Y/N : ah... you're separated from your brother?

As he listens to me his eyes get tearier and the tears roll down his cheeks. He nods at me but now I can hear that he started to sniffle his cries.

Boy: I... didn't listen... Nii san.. must be angy... he left...

Y/n: ah no... I'm sure he's looking for you as well...

the boy looks up at me, and I can't help my hands from reaching out to wipe his tears away. The boy flinches, but I tried to wipe his tears as gently as I could. He eventually calmed and this kind of made me happy.

Y/n: what is your name? I'm Y/n... will you let me help you find your brother?

The boy stares at me and somehow I see he looks like he's about to cry harder, but instead of that, he runs to me and circles his arms around my neck.

Tamahiko: Tama...hiko... me... Y/N look for nii chan...

The boy whose name is Tamahiko hugs me and I kinda find this adorable, I'm glad that he's not too weary of me anymore. I pick him up and stand up, carrying him in my arms as he hugs me.

Y/N: yes... let's go look for your nii chan...

tamahiko nods in the crook of my neck and I head to the information desk. it'll be easier if we announce it.

■3rd Person POV■

Takao is out on a date with Fuyumiat at the mall. The two decided to take a break at a cafe. Takao looks around the cafe, looking for empty seats.

Fuyumi: Kazu, what do you want to order? I'll get in the line, you should look for our seat...

Takao: ah, right, then an iced Macchiato for me...

Fuyumi: alright~

Fuyumi gets in the line as Takao walks to an empty seat for two near the window. They're lucky because the people who sat there just left. Takao sits on one of the chairs and looks at his phone. The group chat of Shutoku's Basketball club is noisy with their practice menus. When Takao press the back button, his eyes landed on the two names pinned as the top chats. It's Fuyumi's and, Y/n's.

Looking at Y/N's name Takao can't help but think about the girl. Since the day they broke up, Takao never talks with her because Nonoka always prevents the two from meeting each other, and Takaocan't even be mad about it. The first day he saw her after the break-up was at school when he was standing in front of his class. He saw her and she looked away, his heart clenched painfully. How somehow something was pulling him to approach her but he knew better than he shouldn't.

he saw Nonoka, Y/N's best friend came and glares dagger at him as she pulls Y/N to walk with her. He remembers how Y/n shuts her eyes close when she walks past him. Takao let a sigh out as he feels like shit. He feels like shit because he hurt her, and missed her after what he did. Takao was looking out the window when he sees a little boy across from the cafe he was in. The boy looks frightened and he looks like he has tears in his eyes.

Takao: where are his parents...  Why no one came to him...

Takao was about to get up from his seat when his eyes caught something he has been missing. Y/N comes closer to the boy and crouches down in front of him. Takao watches as Y/N stares at the boy with kind eyes and how she looks so gentle as she handles the boy. The gentle eyes that she sowed to him as she mends his broken heart before.

Takao is mesmerized by the sight of her. When he sees the boy finally lunges at her and how Y/n looks glad that the boy finally trusts her, a smile plastered on Takao's face.

Takao: really... that's... just how you are...

Takao watches as the girl holds the little boy in her arms, probably heading to look for the boy's family.

Fuyumi: why are you smiling like that Kazu? Is there anything nice out there?

Fuyumi asked as she place Tako's drink in front of him. She looks out but sees nothing other than the mall's visitor. Y/N has gone far with Tamahiko. Takao shook his head no and sip his drink.

Takao: nothing... it's from the group chat...

Fuyumi: you guys really are busy...

Takao remembers Y/N's smiling face as she gently holds the lost boy in her arms.

Takao: yes...

he's happy that after a month, he can finally see her gentle smile after seeing her crying face that he caused.

Y/N is at the information desk by now and she told the woman in charge about the lost boy. The woman announces it in hope that the boy's brother will come to the front desk. Y/N brings Tamahiko to a seat near the fountain not far from the information desk. As she sits, Y/n was surprised when Tamahiko didn't sit on the empty seat next to her but sat on her lap instead. She found this adorable.

Y/N talks with the little boy in the hope she'll get him to be less anxious. From their conversation, Y/N learned that Tamahiko is 4 years old. He was out with his older brother Kazuhiko. His brother was looking for a book and their mother told him to take his brother with him and so Tamahiko comes with his older brother but got lost when he was distracted by someone in a Godzilla costume.

Y/N: Tamahiko likes Godzilla?

Tamahiko: yess! Godzilla strong... and cool... um... Nii san is strong and cool too...

As the two are talking.

???: Tamahiko!

Tamahiko turns his head at the source of the voice and jumps off of Y/N's lap to run to the person who calls him.

Tamahiko: Kazuhiko Nii!

Tamahiko runs to his brother and Kazuhiko picks him up right away.

Kazuhiko: how could you just run off like that... I was... so worried... gosh...

Tamahiko looks at his worried brother and cries again hugging his brother.

Tamako: I'm... sowwy.... There's Godzilla.... I follow.... Sowwyy, Nii chan..

Kazuhiko sighs and wipes Tamahiko'stears away.

Kazuhiko: no... I'm sorry... I should have to keep an eye on you... sorry, Tama...

Tamahiko nuzzles his brother's face and then he remembers Y/N

Tamahiko: Nii chan... Y/N!

Kazuhiko tilts his head as he listens to his brother.

Kazuhiko: Y/N?

Tamahiko points at where Y/N is and Kazuhiko turns his head towards the girl. Y/N was watching the two brothers and she likes their relationship. When she meets her eyes with Kazuhiko, she bows her head.

Y/N: ah... Hello, Tamahiko kun's brother... I'm L/N Y/N... I'm glad Tamahiko can find his brother...

Tamahiko is moving around asking Kazuhiko to let him down. Kazuhiko introduces himself while putting Tamahiko down.

Kazuhiko: n-no... thank you so much, I was at fault for turning my eyes away from him... Tama loves Godzilla, I should have thought of this the moment I saw that Godzilla walk past the bookstore... Thankyou L/N... ah I'm Ozawa Kazuhiko... nice to meet you

Y/N: you're welcome Ozawa san...

Just then Y/N feels a thump on her legs as Tamahiko hugs her legs. Y/n looks down and Tamahiko looks up at her.

Tamahiko: Y/N thank you!

Kazuhiko : o-oi Tama, you can't just hug a girl like that! And it's Y/N nee for you!

Y/n laughs at this because she thinks Tamahiko is cute and how flustered Kazuhiko brings a smile to her face, Kazuhiko looks at the laughing girl in front of him. He watches as the girl crouches down to pat his younger brother and accept Tamahiko's hugs.

Y/N: Tamahiko kun... he really is adorable...

Kazuhiko can feel that his heart skips a beat as he sees her smile, but he shook the thought away. He scratches the back of his head doesn't even itch at all.

Kazuhiko: y-yeah... he's actually well behaved for a kid his age...

At that very moment, Kazuhiko's paper bag ripped and the books he just bought fell. How much he thinks the world is trying to make him look uncool in front of this girl who just saved his brother. He immediately gathers his books, and there are other things there than books, it's a gacha ball of Godzilla, he gets that for Tamahiko. This gacha rolls to Y/N and she picks it up. When she handed it back to Kazuhiko, she sees that Kazuhiko bought the books she was looking for.

Y/N: ah, I was about to buy these books as well...

Kazuhiko: L/N, you're also the 2nd year?

Y/N nods her head while looking for something in her bag. She pulls out a reusable shopping bag and hands it to Kazuhiko.

Y/N: um you can use this... and yes, I'm a 2nd-year student of Shutoku...we're the same age I see...

Kazuhiko: you're from Shutoku too?

Y/N looks at Kazuhiko as he looks surprised.

Y/N: yes, I study in Shutoku...

Kazuhiko laughs as he takes the folded bag from Y/n's hand.

Kazuhiko: I guess... I can return this to you tomorrow... I'm also Shutoku's student...

Y/N was surprised but then she was happy she get to have new friends. Kazuhiko has put his books inside the bag, the two stands up and Kazuhiko offers his hand for Tamahiko to take. Tamahiko raise his hands instead hoping his brother will pick him up instead, and Kazuhiko did.

Y/N: Ozawa san and Tamahiko kun are close...

Kazuhiko stares at his younger brother who's happily staring at his new Godzilla toy, Kazuhiko smiles seeing his brother.

Kazuhiko: although he stole my throne as an only child.... He really brings joy to my life in another way...

Y/N like the warmth radiates from the two siblings. Just then Kazuhiko looks at Y/N

Kazuhiko: L/N you're looking for these books as well right?

Y/N: ah yes...

Kazuhiko lifts the bag Y/N lends to him

Kazuhiko: but, you lend this to me...

Y/N just realized that, but she said that she can just get the paper bag from the bookstore.

Kazuhiko: well, how about this... let's go to the bookstore together, then I'll bring your books home with me in this... and tomorrow I'll give it bag to you...

Y/N; eeh? But it'll be too heavy for you, I can just get the paper bag...

Kazuhiko: the paper bag might rip like mine you know... these books are too heavy for those bags... I'll carry them with me...

Tamahiko: Tamahiko will help too...

Kazuhiko: nah you won't... I even have to carry you as well you little meat bun...

Y/n laughs at the two siblings, get Kazuhiko's attention, and gulps as he watches Y/N laugh. Kazuhiko's first impression of Y/N is, that she's a girl that radiates warmth. He's happy that he gets to know someone like her, and that they're studying at the same school.

Y/N: okay...

The three finally head to the bookstore and Y/N gets the book she needed. When they're on their way, Tamahiko keeps saying that he wants to eat ice cream, then Kazuhiko got an idea. He told Y/N that he wants to treat her as thanks for helping Tamahiko. The girl refuses at first, but Kazuhiko insisted and say that as a friend he'd be happy if she let him treat her. in the end she agreed and after getting the books, Kazuhiko ad tamahiko followed y/n to buy a gift for Nonoka, and the three head to the ice cream parlor.

■Takao's POV■

I've just finished watching with Fuyumi, the movie was good, but I just can't seem to focus. I keep thinking about Y/N. How much of a shitty person I am. How dare I miss the girl who was kind to me, the girl that I hurt after what she did for me. How dare I, be happy when I got to see her smiling face after so long?

Fuyumi: the movie was great, right Kazu?

Takao: yes, it's great...

Fuyumi and I have been going out on dates more often after Y/N and I are no longer together. But even until now I still haven't asked Fuyumi to be my girlfriend. Fuyumi keeps giving me hints that she wants us to be official, but for some reason, I still can't do that. Not when I'm still hoping to see another girl walk past our class every morning. Not when I still hope I'd see Y/n on the bleacher as I practice. Not when I still hoped I'd see her waiting for me at the gym door when I'm the one who pushed her away.

I... miss Y/N... I regretted that I made her drift away from me...

at first, I thought it was as simple as I want her and me to stay friends after what happened. But that much thought was already too much for me to hope for. Moreover, I just realized that what I want is more than that.

Fuyumi and I walk through the mall, heading to the exit. There my fuckn eyes caught sight of something on the other side of the mall. there I see Y/N in an ice cream parlor. And there's the boy from earlier, the one that she helped. But, who's that guy, the one that sits in front of her?

Y/N looks as if she's having a pleasant time with them. As I look closely, I can't help but be mesmerized by her smile. But at the same time, I noticed that I'm not the only one who's mesmerized by her.

The guy who sits across her stares at her with a spark in his eyes. The way he looks at her, I know that. It's the way I look at her when I first fell for her.

A slight pain pierce into my chest the moment I realized Y/N is happily talking with another guy. Moreover I can see that the guy is interested in her.

but what can I do...

That's just how she is...
